Altercation at bar results in charges
Three Monroe County men are facing charges following an altercation at a bar that occurred on Friday, April 2.
State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were called to Rizzo's Beer Pub, located along SR209 in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, about 8:20 p.m. to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival troopers found Justin Joseph Dawson, 27, of Brodheadsville, in the parking lot. Troopers said Dawson was highly intoxicated and uncooperative. While speaking with Dawson, two men, identified as Matthew Rocco Tomlin, 25, and Robert Russell Slover, 42, both of Brodheadsville, who were also highly intoxicated, approached them and Dawson and attempted to start an altercation.
They were warned mulitple times to return to the bar area but did not comply.
As a trooper placed Dawson under arrest for public drunkenness, he resisted and a tazer was used to take him into custody.
Through an investigation troopers learned that an altercation occurred inside the bar between Dawson, Tomlin and Slover. During the altercation Dawson smashed a beer mug over Slover's head and bit Slover's arm. Slover suffered a serious bite wound and a swollen bruise over his eye. Also, Dawson bit off a piece of Tomlin's ear, which had an earring in it, and then spit it out onto the floor.
All three men were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance for treatment of injuries. The three are facing charges of public drunkenness, simple assault and disorderly conduct, troopers said.
