Rush watchdogs
The Rush Township Concerned Citizen Watchdog group will meet April 8, at 7 p.m., at the Hometown Fire Company. Topics for discussion will include the Meadow Avenue Project, followed by an open discussion, comments and concerns.
New members are always welcome.
Soccer sign ups
The Tamaqua Area Youth Soccer Association will conduct registration sessions for the new season on three dates in April. The organization is open to boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14 who reside within the Tamaqua Area School District.
Registrations will be accepted on April 17 and April 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, and on April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. All sign up sessions will be held at the Tamaqua Elementary School.
First time players must provide a birth certificate.

This year's fundraiser will be a candle sale. Parents will be permitted to make arrangements to opt out of the fundraiser.
SS. Peter and Paul
The Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Church will meet this Thursday at 8 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass.
Class of 1969
The Tamaqua Class of 1969 will hold an initial planning session for its next reunion on April 29, at 7 p.m., at the Restaurant at the Station. All class members are welcome to attend.

Recycling
Wednesday is the day for curbside recycling pickup for all residents of Tamaqua.
All recyclable items must be placed in the containers issued to each borough household. Any other containers, such as plastic bags and cardboard boxes, will be emptied and left behind.
Anyone who needs a recycling container may contact borough hall at (570) 668-3444.
Collection bins for cardboard have been moved to the Tamaqua Transfer Station on Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
Collection bins for newspaper can be found at the Tamaqua Borough Garage on East Broad Street.
TOPS
The Tamaqua Chapter of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets every Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., in the Tamaqua Salvation Army Community Center, 105 W. Broad St. The meeting includes a short business session and a program.
Linda Hosler was named TOPS Loser of the Month for March at the March 31 meeting and provided an inspirational reading entitled "Wonder World." An installation of officers was held. Officers for 2010 will include: Bernie Kunkel, leader and treasurer; Linda Hosler, co-leader and assistant weight recorder; Nancy Barron, secretary; and Frances Houser, weight recorder. Kunkel presented a program.
