Man arrested for Tamaqua incident

Published April 10. 2010 09:00AM

Tamaqua police cited a Florida man on Monday, April 5, after he failed to apply for a solicitation permit.

Officers received numerous reports concerning men trying to sell magazine subscriptions door to door that day. Two of the salespeople were advised of the need for permits as was the company they worked for. Later that day, at 7:30 p.m., officers took Delbert Strickland into custody on E. Union Street. Strickland worked for the same company that had been warned earlier in the day.

He was cited for failing to apply for a solicitation permit.

Also this week officers have received reports of numerous door-to-door salespersons, offering magazine subscriptions to food items. Residents are reminded that all such salespeople are required to have a borough issued permit. Anyone without a permit will be cited. Always ask to see a permit. If a permit isn't visible call police at 570-668-6100.
