Carbon club cited by liquor board

A Carbon County social club has been cited the state liquor control board's Wilkes-Barre enforcement office.

Sokol Citizens Club, of 150 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, was cited for violating several sections of the liquor code. The violations include: failure to clean coils, tap rods and connections at least once every seven days; possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises; and sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to a visibly intoxicated patron.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
