Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers recently on Schuylkill County roadways.
A one vehicle crash occurred about 10:49 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, along Blue Mountain Road in Wayne Township. Troopers said Brian R. Porter, 25, of Auburn, was negotiating a left curve while operating a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the road and struck several trees. Troopers said Porter then left the scene. He is facing a charge of driving on roadways laned for traffic.
A crash occurred about 4:12 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, along E. Grande Ave., in Porter Township. Troopers said Teagan T. Laubach, 18, of Ashland, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Corsica southbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The car went onto the west berm traveling about 90 feet before impacting with two trees.
The car then continued along the berm another 36 feet before impacting with a newspaper box and stone wall where it came to rest.
Laubach sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by Tower City ambulance personnel, troopers said. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Laubach for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
