Lehighton dancer to attend Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Performing Arts
Brittany Lynn Semmel, 14-year-old daughter of Kimberly and Michael Semmel, Lehighton, recently auditioned and was accepted into the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Performing Arts and its dance program.
Brittany plans on attending her last three years of high school in Bethlehem.
A student of Dance with Kim for the past 12 years, she is a member of the award winning "IMPACT" Dance Team. She has studied at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, The Ballet Guild and De Sales University.
She has participated in numerous workshops including NYC Dance Alliance, The Rockette Experience, 76'ers dance camp, NCA camps and most recently the Pulse, in which she was awarded a scholarship from the celebrity teaching staff.
Brittany has also performed for Disney's Magic Music Days, Donna Parsons' CD Release concert, Philadelphia Soul Jr. Dance Team, Philadelphia Eagles Jr. Dance Team, Philadelphia 76'ers, Six Flags Great Adventure, Hershey Park, and internationally in Nassau, Bahamas.
She was most recently accepted as a print model for Curtain Call Costumes and modeled for the United Dance Merchants of America in N.Y.
Currently a student-teacher at Dance with Kim, she plans to dance professionally someday and to share her experience to shape future dancers at the studio.
Brittany's paternal grandparents are Carole and Richard Semmel and great-grandmother Betty Kreitz of Lehighton. Maternal grandparents are Al Mertz of McAdoo, Donna and Terry Graver; and great-grandparents Virginia and Joe O'Brien of Lehighton.
