Golden Agers
On April 12 the annual Memorial Mass was held for six deceased members of the previous year from the Panther Valley Golden Agers, with 85 people attending.
Celebrants for the Mass were the Rev. Burdess and the Rev. Medve. The chorus of the club provided the hymns.
Following the Mass the bi-monthly meeting was held. Vice President Shirly Pavlick opened the meeting with a memorial prayer, and a moment of silence was held for the 29 coal miners who died in West Virginia.
The hospitality committee for May will be Jenny Snyder and Fran Golder.
Birthday celebrations for April, May and June will be held on June 14. The meeting concluded with the Lord's Prayer.
The next meeting will be April 26 beginning at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Social Hall, in Summit Hill.
JROTC
The monthly meeting of the Panther Valley JROTC will be held on Wednesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. in the classroom. All parents are invited.
Miller Keystone Blood Drive
The Miller Keystone Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, April 21, from 4:30 to 7:15 p.m. in front of the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008, located at 300 E.Center Street.

Spring cleanup
Summit Hill Borough officials have announced plans to conduct the annual spring cleanup as follows:
On Thursday, April 22, the contractor will pick up refuse on the east side of town, along with Knepper's Trailer Lots and East and West White Bear drives.
On Tuesday, April 27, refuse will be picked up on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads.
Among the items that will be picked up are up to five tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.
All items must have all chemicals removed from them and their doors taken off.
In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.
Water authority
The Summit Hill Water Authority will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. John Michalik, president, will be in charge.
Democratic plans
The Jeffersonian Democratic Club, Summit Hill, will hold a "Coffee with the Candidates" session on Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Summit Hill Borough Hall.
This will be an opportunity for anyone from the borough/county to meet the Democratic candidates who will be on the ballot for the May 18 Primary Election.
The club will meet on Thursday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall.
Robin McArdle, president, will be in charge of the session.
Club members are available to assist anyone who wants to register to participate in the May 18 Primary Election, or persons requiring an absentee ballot application.

Heritage center
The Summit Hill Heritage Center, the former St. Paul United Church of Christ, is operated by a nonprofit organization and currently houses the Summit Hill Food Bank and serves as a meeting place for the local Boy Scouts and for yoga classes.
Future plans include formation of a Girl Scout troop and the hosting of music programs, cultural events and fun nights for the young and old.
