Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met April 13 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 39 members in attendance.
President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation.
Reports were presented by Secretary Florina Martin and Treasurer Shirley Becker. Secretary Becker reported sending a get well card to Gayle Wall, who is a patient at a rehab center in New Bloomfield. A donation was sent to the Coventry Home in memory of Theresa Reed.
Florina Martin, Jean Machamer and Shirley Becker provided inspirational readings.
Anyone 50 years old or older is welcome to join. The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m., April 27, at the Ryan Township Fire Company.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service is available during the service.
A time of fellowship will be held following the service.
The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
Sunday school for all ages is held at 11 a.m.
The choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday and the Finance Committee will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Ministry Council will meet at 11:45 a.m. and TYM's Up Close and Personal program will be at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM and prayer and Bible study meet at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, TYM FOGON will be held at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, praise practice at 9:30 a.m.
Democrats to meet
The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet Monday, at 7:30 p.m., at the East End Fire Company.
Class of 2010
Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2010 meet every Monday, at 7 p.m., on the third floor of the Elks Building, 301 W. Broad St. The group is involved in creating decorations for the annual all night party.
Parents of all class members are welcome to help.
Soccer sign ups
The Tamaqua Area Youth Soccer Association will conduct registration sessions for the new season on two more dates in April.
The organization is open to boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14 who reside within the Tamaqua Area School District.
Registrations will be accepted on April 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, and on April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.
All sign up sessions will be held at the Tamaqua Elementary School.
First time players must provide a birth certificate.
