Carbon driver facing DUI count

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance following an incident that occurred about 11:15 p.m. on March 20 along Linden St., between Fulton and 16th sts., in Allentown.

State police at Fogelsville said Gerald Vincent Niehoff II, 28, of Lehighton, was stopped operating a 2004 Jeep Liberty for going the wrong way on Linden Street. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and is facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

In another DUI-related incident. On Friday, April 23, about 9:39 p.m. along Interstate 78 in Weisenburg Township, troopers stopped a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Joseph Heinbach, 44, of Pottsville. He was found to be under the influence and was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center for processing. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers said.
