Recipes needed for bicentennial cookbook
In 2011, Schuylkill County celebrate 200 years. As part of the Bicentennial Celebration, a committee is compiling a cookbook to be sold as a commemorative piece, as well as a sample of the rich ethnic heritage that makes Schuylkill County what it is.
Recipe submissions for "A Taste of Schuylkill County Celebrating 200 Years of Great Taste" will be accepted from current county residents, as well as county natives. The goal is at least 300 recipes with a submission from each of the 67 municipalities. Restaurants, churches, and fire companies are encouraged to submit a recipe.
Recipes have been received from Frackville, Minersville, Orwigsburg, Palo Alto, Pottsville, Ringtown, Schuylkill Haven, Tamaqua, and Walker Township.
Categories are Appetizers & Beverages; Breads and Rolls; Soups & Salads; Desserts; Vegetables & Side Dishes; Cookies & Candy; Main Dishes; and This and That. The book will also contain favorite memories of Schuylkill County.
The deadline for recipe submissions has been extended to Aug. 31.
Advertising is also available in the book to businesses or individuals. Students from the sales class and Marketing Club from McCann School of Business & Technology are assisting with advertising.
