Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Aug. 8, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.

The adult Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Presbyterian church

The worship service for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Aug. 8, will take place at 9:30 a.m., which is a change for the summer season.

The time will be in effect until Sept. 12. During the summer, there will be no junior choir, Sunday school or adult Bible class.

Infants baptized

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, welcomed to the congregation two infants by the sacrament of Holy Baptism on Sunday, Aug. 1.

Natalie Ann Romankow, daughter of Carly and James Romankow, and Brody Louis Vermillion, son of Alesha and Thomas Vermillion, were baptized by the Rev. John F. Hazel Jr., pastor.

Borough council

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall.

Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup and preparatory work associated with upcoming grand opening of the Summit Hill Heritage Center.

The center is located at the former St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hazard and Chestnut streets.

Organizer Debra Ranck is proposing workday sessions for every Saturday morning in August.

Persons interested in helping with the chores are asked to contact Ranck at (717) 787-3672.

Legion to meet

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.

A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Lansford

Committee to meet

The Lansford Borough Facility Planning Committee meeting originally scheduled for Monday, Aug. 9, has been rescheduled to Monday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Lansford Borough Office, 26 E. Patterson St.
