Driver critical after Schuylkill crash

Published August 11. 2010 05:00PM

A male driver is in critical condition following a one-vehicle crash that occurred early today along a Schuylkill County roadway. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. along SR924 in East Union Township, north of Shenandoah.

Troopers said a black 1994 Chevrolet Camaro was driven northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The car left the road and slid along the east embankment before flipping over onto its roof. It continued to slide on its roof with the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, being ejected.

The car came to rest in the southbound lane on its roof facing south.

Troopers have yet to identify the driver, only stating he was a white male 20-30 years old. He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was listed in critical condition, troopers said.

Troopers ask anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call them at (570) 874-5300.
