Vehicle stop leads to wanted person
A vehicle stop in Schuylkill County led to the arrest of a passenger as a wanted person.
State police at Frackville said a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation about 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, along SR61 at the entrance to a Wal-Mart store in St. Clair.
A back seat passenger identified herself by name and birth date. A further check revealed the name and date provided was for a 53-year-old female from Abington, Montgomery County, who was now deceased.
Upon further investigation and using various law enforcement resources it was determined the person was Dreama Simmons, 47, of Shenandoah.
It was also learned that Simmons had an outstanding warrant for her arrest issued to the sheriff's department of Montgomery County. The warrant was for a felony retail theft count issued in October 2007.
Simmons was taken into custody and charged with identity theft and false identification to law enforcement. She was arraigned before duty District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $5,000 straight cash bail.
Troopers said a detainer was also lodged against her by Montgomery County authorities.
