Schuylkill driver facing DUI charge

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one- vehicle crash that occurred about 3:05 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, along Second Mountain Rd., at Manheim Rd., in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said John L. Zimmerman, 21, of Cressona, was driving a 2005 Mazda 6S eastbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The car struck an embankment along the berm, then overturned twice before coming to rest on its roof.

Zimmerman admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash, troopers said, and is facing the DUI charge.
