Two area residents cited by PLCB

Two area residents were cited by enforcement officers of the state liquor control board at a concert in Lackawanna County.

Enforcement officers observed Ashley Marie Franz, 24, of Pocono Lake, and Amanda Lee Kelchner, 20, of Jim Thorpe, drinking alcohol in the parking lot of Montgage Mountain, Scranton, prior to the "Kings of Leon" concert event.

When asked for identification the two females gave officers the exact valid state ID cards of Franz. The criminal complaint alleges that Franz provided Kelchner with a valid duplicate ID card falsely representing her to be over the age of 21 in an attempt to secure alcohol at the concert.

Franz was charged with misdemeanor crimes of representing that a minor is of age and inducement of minors to buy liquor or malt or brewed beverages. Kelchner was cited for summary offenses of underage drinking and carrying a false ID card. The charges were filed with a District Judge Robert Russell of Scranton.
