Schuylkill driver facing DUI charge

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 16 along SR183, in Cressona.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew Cecchini, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2010 Subaru Imprezza southbound and failed to negotiate a left curve and sideswiped a utility pole along the west berm. After impact with the pole the car continued south and pulled into the parking lot of a service station. The rear bumper had been torn loose and was dragging on the road behind the car.

Cecchini was found to be under the influence, troopers said. The DUI charge is pending blood test results.
