Schuylkill man facing charges
A Schuylkill County man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed another man for urinating in his yard.
State police at Frackville identified the suspect as John W. Kriete, 40, of Girardville, and the victim as Kevin M. Powell, 43, also of Girardville.
According to troopers about 10:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, Powell was playing board games wiht friends at 233 Main St., when he had to urinate. Not knowing where the bathroom was, Powell decided to go out into the backyard and urinate. Kriete then arrived home and observed what Powell was doing.
The two went back inside and began arguing over the matter. Kriete then told Powell to leave and the verbal argument escalated. Outside on a porch while the two continued to argue, Kriete pulled out a knife and stabbed Powell twice in the left leg.
Powell was transported to St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland, where he received staples in each stab wound and then released. Kriete is facing charges of aggravated and simple assault and other counts, troopers said.
