Smoking in grove results in citation

Lehighton police have issued several non-traffic citations, including one for a 16-year-old male smoking in the Community Grove.

Smoking is not permitted in the grove as per borough ordinance.

The incident happened at 9:48 p.m. Saturday.

Also charged with violating a borough ordinance was Lewis R. Achtermann, 39, of Blakeslee, who was cited for having an outdoor fire not confined to a non-combustible container. The citation was issued at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Scott Easterday, 40, of 340 N. First St., Lehighton, was charged with harassment as the result of an incident at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at his residence.
