Minor injuries in Schuylkill crash

Minor injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 8:09 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Enrico Caruso, 67, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck southbound and negotiating a left curve when the rear end of the truck started to slid out of control on the wet road. Caruso attempted to regain control but was unable to do so before the truck entered the west berm and struck a tree. After striking the tree with the left rear passenger area the truck came to rest on the driver's side.

Two passengers, Brandi L. Gagliardo, 24, and Paul W. Nye, 19, both of Pine Grove, were slightly injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment. Caruso was not injured.

Troopers cited Caruso for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
