Tamaqua man admits to thefts

A Tamaqua man has reportedly confessed to two recent theft incidents in the borough.

Joseph L. Cierlitsky, 19, of 445 E. Willing St., admitted breaking into a home and a car on Aug. 9. He told officers he sold the items taken during the burglaries and used the money for drugs.

The vehicle in question is owned by a Karissa Hunara and was parked in the area of the public library. Items removed from the car included two XM radios and an MP3 player, with a total value of $630.

The home Cierlitsky entered is at 316 Columbia St. and is the residence of Gary and Edith Trevorah. The home was entered forcibly.

Items removed included a digital camera with dock, a compact disc player, a flash drive, a watch, Zippo lighter, jewelry, a bank, cash, headphones and a mustache and sideburn trimmer. Total value for the items and damage was $641.40.

Charges include theft from a motor vehicle, burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.

Cierlitsky remains lodged in the Schuylkill County prison, where he was taken following a traffic stop in Rush Township on Wednesday morning.
