Western Pocono Lioness Club donation

The Western Pocono Lioness Club voted to send a memorial donation to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network in remembrance of the late Lioness Betty Ford, a much deserving PVEN volunteer. She died this August.

The group will next meet for a regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28, with Dr. Bryn, chiropractor, from Life is Good Chiropractic, speaking to the group.

PV Band Parents

Pleasant Valley Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, at the high school in Brodheadsville.

Lions board

The Western Pocono Lions Club board of directors will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept.1, at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville. All Lions are welcome.

Office closed

Just as is true of almost all governmental offices, whether local, state, or national, church offices and daycares will also be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, including Effort UMC's two facilities.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Effort UMC has just given away its 100th prayer shawl. The group will continue its work of making for others with a work session beginning at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Jessica Johnson has graduated from Radiology School. Family and friends send their congratulations.

Religious classes

Our Lady Queen of Peace, Gilbert, will begin religious classes anew on Sept. 11, 12, 13 and 14. Member families are asked to stop by the church office to register.

Flu clinic

Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will be the site for a flu clinic on Oct. 8 being offered by the Monroe County's Area Agency on Aging's Prime time Health Department and the VNA/Hospice of Monroe County.

Listed for Chestnuthill Township and surrounding areas is the free Senior Fair being sponsored by state Rep. Mike Carroll and State Rep. John Siptroth on Friday, Sept. 10, a the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
