Adult day care
The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for December, including a visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten students on Dec. 21.
Other activities planned for the month include: Dec. 6, bingo; Dec. 8, craft day; Dec. 13, Christmas music with Andrew Roblin; Dec. 15, Salvation Army visit; Dec. 17, cooking class; Dec. 20, sing-a-long with Audrey Christ; Dec. 21, flannel shirt day; Dec. 22, foot doctor visit; Dec. 27, visit with Skye the Therapy Dog; Dec. 28, monthly birthday party; Dec. 30, New Year's party.
In addition to weekly sing-a-longs and social games, the center provides for hairstyling and manicure service. Both require advance notice.

SS. Peter and Paul
First Friday, Fatima Saturday and Rosary Sunday will be observed this week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
First Friday communion calls will be made on Thursday for residents of Hometown and Coaldale. All others will begin Friday at 9 a.m. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m.
A recitation of the Rosary and devotions will be held Fatima Saturday, prior to the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will meet before the 8 a.m. Mass Sunday for a Recitation of the Rosary. The group will attend Mass and receive Holy Communion as a group.
Non-perishable food items may be taken to the church on the first Sunday of each month. Donated goods will be distributed through the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities.
Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesdays, Youth Choir at 6 p.m., Adult Choir at 7 p.m.
The choir and ladies auxiliary will hold a combined Christmas party at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Viennese Villa, Coaldale. Reservations may be made by calling the rectory at (570) 668-1150. There will not be a gift exchange this year.
The children's Christmas party and liturgy will be held Dec. 4 in conjunction with the 5 p.m. Mass. A sign up sheet is located in the church vestibule.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a new member class will be held at 9:30 a.m. and the Budget Committee will meet at 11:45 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Men's Fraternity meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, adult Bible study, GriefShare and Tamaqua Youth Ministry meet at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 9 a.m. and praise practice at 9:30 a.m.
St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, rehearsal for the Sunday school Christmas Program will begin at 10:30 a.m., Women's Association of St. Peter's will have its family Christmas party at noon, Youth Group meets at 6 p.m. and Cub Scouts, Daisies and Brownies all meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Retiree Christmas party at 10 a.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m. and Confirmation class meets at 6 p.m.
Choir rehearsals are held on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Junior Choir at 7 p.m., and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.
A used clothing drive will be held Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.
