Liquor board cites area businesses

The Allentown enforcement office of the state liquor control board cited two area businesses for violation of the state liquor code.

Mazloom Inc., 57-59 Valley St., New Philadelphia, was cited for two violations. First for sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to one visibly intoxicated male patron. The offense occurred on June 11. The second citation was for possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises. The offense occurred on June 11 and July 4.

M&T Blue Ridge, trading as Foulkers at the Blue Ridge, 6799 Madison St., New Tripoli, Lynn Township, was cited for two violations. The first offense was the manager failed to devote full time and attention to the operation of the licensed business.

The second offense was the manager of the premises was employed by or engaged in another business without board approval, in that the manager also devotes 40 hours per week at the other business.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging form $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.
