A Luzerne County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, in the 100 block of Mahanoy St., in the village of Nurembreg, North Union Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Samuel Red, 66, of Weston, was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan southbound when he lost control while negotiating a left curve. His van sideswiped a Ford F350 truck and then rear-ended a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. Both struck vehicles were legally parked, troopers noted.

Red, who was not injured, was found to be under the influence and submitted to a breath test at the barracks. The test showed him over the legal limit of .08 percent blood/alcohol. He will be charged.

Damages were moderate to the van and Grand Priz and minor to the Ford, troopers said.
