An icy and slush-covered SR903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, was blamed for causing a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.

State police at Fern Ridge said Michael Gregorios, 18, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer northbound and traveled through a patch of ice and slush causing him to lose control. The vehicle struck the guide rail along the berm, then spun around and came to rest facing south in the northbound lane.

Gregorios and his passenger, Michael A. Norato, 16, also of Jim Thorpe, were not injured.
