Summit Hill
Remembering Sister
Sr. Mary Florence Hawe, former teacher, principal and pastoral assistant for the Summit Hill Catholic community, is a guest at the Sisters of Mercy Convent. Christmas wishes can be sent to her at 560 Hemlock Road, Merion, Pa. 19066.
Christmas party
American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for all children from the community on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the post home.
The festivities will begin at 1 o'clock when Santa Claus will arrive. He will greet the children and give each of them a pre-Christmas gift. The public is invited to attend. Food and refreshments will be served.
To decorate church
Members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will decorate the church for the Christmas season on Sunday, Dec. 19, following the 11 a.m. mass. Anyone interested in helping with the project should report at about noon.
Lansford
Parish ministry
A new endeavor of parish ministry, HOPE (Helping Older Parishioners Earnestly), is being organized at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford. Volunteers are needed to work in pairs to assist parishioners in need. For more information, contact Marilyn Barrett, (570) 645-0370.
To decorate church
Members of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will get together to decorate the church for the Christmas season on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed. Students in grade school or high school who need to meet church and/or community service hours requirements for confirmation of graduation are especially welcome.
Scholarships
The St. Mary Magdalene Society Junior Branch No. 46 of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association is once again sponsoring its scholarship program for 2011. They are available in three categories: elementary grades 1-4, elementary grades 5-8, and high school.

First Congregational Church
Christmas week services at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, are as follows:
Sunday, Dec. 19 - 9 a.m. Christmas program presented by the children and youth of the church, After the service the youth will host a social hour and refreshments in the church hall. Sunday School is at 10 a.m.
Friday, Dec. 24 - 7 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.
Sunday, Jan. 2 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship and the Lord's Supper; 10 a.m. Sunday School.
