The Panther Valley School Board on Tuesday voted to open and post the position of head football coach for the 2011-2012 year.

School Director R. Mickey Angst moved to amend the motion to say the incumbent coach would not be considered for the job. Angst said that many coaches would not apply if they know an incumbent would also be in the running. However, his motion died for lack of a second.

When contacted on Tuesday, head football coach Frank Damian told THE TIMES NEWS that he definitely plans to reapply for the position.

"I want the team to take the next step towards improving," he said. "We are re-evaluating everything and I hope to get an opportunity to be back."
