New Jersey man injured in crash
Kevin M. Neilan, 24, of Bayone, N.J., sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash Dec. 19 at 6:35 p.m. at the intersection of Rt. 115 and Astolat Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, according to state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.
Police said he was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Police said he was driving a 2011 BMW south on Rt. 115 and was unable to stop in time after a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 entered its path. The latter vehicle was driven by Chester Zajac, 65, of Blakeslee. Neither he nor two female passengers were injured.
Police said Zajac was stopped at a stop sign on Astolat Road (at Rt. 115) when he proceeded into the intersection before it was clear. The truck crossed the southbound lane of Rt. 115 and entered the path of the BMW.
Police said Zajac was making an illegal left turn onto Rt. 115 at the time. He will face Vehicle Code citations, police said.The West End EMS and Fire Department responded.
