Tobyhanna men charged with rape

George Dyer, 20, and Simeon Silverstein, 22, both of Tobyhanna, have been arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police on rape charges stemming from an incident at 3 a.m. Dec. 21 at the Pocono Country Place development in Tobyhanna.

They were arraigned on charges of rape and conspiracy to commit rape and were lodged in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, pending further court action.

Police said the victim is an 18-year-old female who attended a party at a residence on Country Place Drive in the development on the above date. She told police she was raped while passed out in a bedroom.

Police said a male friend walked into the room to check on the female and saw two other males in the room with her, one of which the witness said had his pants down. The two men rushed out of the residence and were later identified as Dyer and Silverstein.
