Driver is cited after Carbon crash

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said John J. Silny, 19, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested after a two-vehicle crash Dec. 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Old Stage and Stony Mountain roads in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was driving a 1998 Mercury Mystique west on Old Stage Road and was traveling too fast to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle went out of control and began to slide off the road.

Police said the second vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Michael J. O'Toole, 44, of Jim Thorpe, was making a right turn off of Stony Mountain Road onto Old Stage Road at the time. Police said O'Toole tried to avoid the accident but the Mystique struck the passenger's side of the Silverado and the two vehicles came to rest in the intersection.

Neither driver was injured.
