Frackville man hurt in Union Twp. crash

State police at the Frackville barracks said Matthew P. McTiernan, 23, of Frackville, sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle crash Dec. 19 at 1 a.m. on Ridge Road in Union Township, Schuylkill County.

Police said he was transported to the Pottsville Hospital in a private vehicle.

He was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty south on Ridge Road and was rounding a curve when he was distracted with his car radio. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled into a wooded area along the west side of the road and struck a large rock and tree before coming to rest.

Police said McTiernan will be charged with careless driving.
