Indiana man jailed after incident

James R. Adkins, 40, of Indianapolis, Ind., was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville following his arraignment on Dec. 26 after an incident in Cressona.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said he was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment after the incident at 10:13 p.m. at 161 Railroad Street.

Police said the victim is Laura M. Adkins, 38, of Cressona.

Police said the two became involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical when the accused grabbed the victim by the shoulders and tried to push her out of the house. Police said he continued to threaten the woman until officers arrived.

He was arraigned before District Justice David Plachko and incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.
