McAdoo man charged with assault

State police at the Frackville barracks arrested Donald Moyer Jr., 45, of McAdoo, with two counts of harassment and simple assault after an altercation Dec. 19 at 11:55 p.m. at 107 S. Sheridan St. in the borough.

Police said he was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, following his arraignment. Bail was set at $20,000.

Police said he was involved in an argument with Kristel Gartner, 40, also of McAdoo, during which time Moyer pushed the woman and caused her to lose her balance. When a 14-year-old female observed the altercation and attempted to defend Gartner by kicking Moyer, police said the man turned and pushed the juvenile, causing her to fall against a wall, striking her head and falling to the floor.

Police said the juvenile was transported to the Hazleton General Hospital where she was treated and released.
