Lehighton school directors have authorized the district solicitor to institute litigation against the Carbon County commissioners and the county assessment office to force them to assess the buildings and land of the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital and all tax-exempt parcels in the district. The action was the latest in the district's bid to challenge the tax-exempt status of the hospital. School solicitor Attorney William Schwab said the action sends a message to the commissioners to "do your administerial duty to have the properties assessed."
