State police at Lehighton charged an 11-year-old boy from Effort with disorderly conduct and harassment.

The boy refused to sit in his seat while on the Pleasant Valley School bus No. 121. He opened the emergency door while the bus was stopped in the road and let a student off the bus. The boy was asked several times to calm himself and sit in his seat, but the boy continued to yell obscenities and "I don't have to listen to you!"

While police were on the scene at 5 p.m. Jan. 27, the boy was punching the seat of the bus while the bus was at the intersection of Astolat and Winterhill roads in Polk Township, Monroe County.
