Committee meeting
The Municipal Administration Committee of the Lansford Borough Council will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. in the borough office.
Council appointments
With the recent reorganization of the Lansford Borough Council, President Bob Gaughan has made the following committee appointments for 2010:
Municipal Administration and Finance Committee accounting, budgeting, debt management, purchasing, personnel, general financial affairs members Gaughan, chairman, Mary Kruczek and Adam Webber; will meet on last Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.;
Public Works Committee streets, roads, parking, handicap parking, traffic, facilities, public buildings, sewers, wastewater management members Lenny Kovach, chairman, Bob Hackash and Gaughan; will meet on last Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.;
Parks & Recreation and Lighting Committee parks and recreation facilities, Shade Tree Commission, lighting members Webber, chairman, Gaughan and Kruczek; will meet on last Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.;
Public Safety Committee police, fire, ambulance, emergency management, Civil Service, sanitation, liaison between council and mayor for police; members Hackash, chairman, Danielle Smith and Tommy Vadyak; will meet on last Monday of the month 6:30 p.m.;
Community Development, Planning, Zoning and Ordinance Committee economic development, planning, zoning, ordinances, demolition of buildings, liaison between council and businesses and general community; members Kruczek, chairman, Webber and Gaughan; will meet on last Thursday of the month 7:15 p.m.
Group to reorganize
The Lansford Babe Ruth organization will hold a reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post Home. All coaches and officers are urged to attend. Interested parties are asked to note of the change of the meeting location listed above.

AMVETS
Reorganization meeting
A reorganization meeting for all members of the AMVETS will be held at 7 p.m., Feb. 10, in the lower banquet hall of the Post, located at 201 W. Ridge St., Lansford. Every yearly member and life member who has paid their 2010 membership dues is asked to attend the meeting and wear your hat if you have one. Members of the state headquarters will also be in attendance. All Ids will be checked to make sure dues have been paid.
Home Association meeting
The AMVETS Home Association meeting that was originally scheduled for Feb. 10 has been postponed until Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. Members of the home association are advised to be there at that time.
Other business
There will be a meeting with the AMVETS' lawyer at 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8 in regards to home association and post business. Regular AMVETS members are invited to attend.
Summit Hill
Work day planned
The Summit Hill Heritage Center will hold a work day session on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at the center, the former St. Paul United Church of Christ. Volunteers are needed. For more information, contact Deb Ranck, (570) 645-9133.

First Congregational Church, Ruddle Street, will conduct the following services and activities during the week of Feb. 7:
Sunday, Feb. 7 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School.
Monday, Feb. 8 7 p.m. Church board meeting.
Wednesday, Feb. 10 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal.
Sunday, Feb. 14 9 a.m. Morning Worship followed by congregational meeting: 10 a.m. Sunday School.
Nesquehoning

The executive board of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will hold a meeting on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at the home of Connie Kravelk. Ginny Novy, club president will conduct the meeting.
