Six admit to drunk driving in Carbon County court
Six defendants facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges entered guilty pleas to the counts Tuesday in Carbon County court before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.
Those who pleaded were:
Steven John Hunt, 40, of Easton, was arrested on Aug. 3, 2009, along Lafayette Ave., in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .17BAC. Police initially responded to the area of a local market for a road rage incident when they encountered Hunt, who was one of the persons involved in the rage incident.
Webb placed him on probation for six months and imposed a fine of $300 and ordered he get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommedation for treatment.
Anthony John Sandor, 50, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on June 14, 2009, along SR903 in Jim Thorpe. Given a test, the result was .16BAC.
Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation. Sandor is currently in the county prison on a probation violation.
Luther M. Strohl Jr., 59, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 23, 2009, along Fireline Road by state police. Given a test, the result was .29BAC.
Webb sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension and get a D&A evaluation. He begins the jail term on Friday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m.
Stephen John Susel, 32, of Palmerton, was arrested on Oct. 30, 2009, along Third St., in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .32BAC. He was arrested after being involved in a hit and run accident in which his vehicle struck a construction sign and he fled. He also has a DUI charge pending in Lehigh County.
Webb sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation, and make restitution of $21.94 to PennDOT for damage to the sign.
He begins the jail term on Feb. 10 at noon.
Jeremy Keith Wheaton, 26, of Kresgeville, was arrested on Oct. 6, 2009, along SR209 in Towamensing Township. Given a test, the result was .17BAC.
Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a D&A evaluation and render three hours of community service per month while on probation.
James C. Williams, 44, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on May 21, 2009, along SR902 in Summit Hill. Given a test, the result was .14BAC.
Webb sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.
He begins the jail term on Friday, Feb. 5, at 9 a.m.
Each defendant must also pay all court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee.
