Lioness meet
The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert. The guest speaker will be Dr. "Dave" Murawski on the topic, "Let's Talk Chiropractic."
WE Rotary
A club assembly will be held when the West End Rotary meets this Thursday, Feb 11. The club meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

Chem-Free meeting
The Pleasant Valley Chem-Free Graduation Party Committee will meet again at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, at state Sen. Browne's office.

The Pleasant Valley Diversity Task Force is slated to meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the district office.
Chestnuthill Seniors
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Chestnuthill Seniors, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church's fellowship hall, can have their blood pressure checked for free. That service is provided by the Allen Lear Home.
On Friday, Feb. 12, BrightStar Home Care will present a program on "Thyroid-Tiny Gland/Big Job."

New course set
Bill Marks of Brodheadsville has announced that the April Hunter-Trapper course being offered by the Pennsylvania Game Commission at the Indian Mountain Rod and Gun Club in Kresgeville is full. No more registrations will be accepted.
However, another course has been scheduled for the Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club on Smith Gap Road for Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13.

Free entertainment
Senior citizens are invited to a free play at the Pleasant Valley Middle School in Brodheadsville at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 6.
The presentation will be "Schoolhouse Rock Live." Light refreshments will be served
Churches help
Aid to Haiti continues in various forms, Effort UMC, along with other area churches, is making health kits to send to those hurting Haitians.
At last count, Joyce Aylsworth reports 45 kits were completed and another assembling day was scheduled for this Wednesday.
New items included in the kits are a hand towel, a wash cloth, a large and sturdy comb, a nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toe nail clippers), a bath size (4.5 oz. or larger) bar of soap, a toothbrush (no children's brushes) in the original wrapper, a large tube of toothpaste (at least 4.5 ounces) whose expiration date must be six months or longer in advance of the shipment, and six adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.
Anyone wishing to donate said items may bring them to the church during office hours.
