During the monthly meeting of the Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Education on Monday night, board members voted to make some human resources changes in the athletic department, to advertise a new open position and welcomed some new student teachers and teacher's aides.

A resignation letter was accepted by the board from James Karabasz, Jim Thorpe's head boy's soccer coach. The board voted to advertise the open position and solicit applicants to fill it.

Donna McNellis was approved to fill a cafeteria floater position for 3 1/2 hours per day. In addition, Kelly Voto and Mary Ellen Galvin were both approved as full-time instructional aides at $11 per hour.

Finally, three new student teachers will be working in the district. Jennifer Ford, a student at Liberty University, will be assisting Mrs. Gula and Mrs. Newton. Ann Zullo, a student at Bloomsburg University, will be assisting Mrs. Taddei and Mrs. K. Reese. Jo Lynn Gazo, a student at East Stroudsburg University, will be assisting Mrs. Burkey.

Teachers weren't the only ones getting attention at Monday's meeting. Board members learned that Jordan Behrens was the high school student of the month for January and two students became student Rotarians in January: Christian Ferko and Marisa Cantelmi.
