Slatington man facing charges

A Slatington man is facing charges following incidents at the Wal-Mart Store in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said August David Gebhardt, 35, was arrested for passing two fraudulently made checks at the store. One incident occurred on Dec. 3, 2009, at about 2:13 a.m. a check for $584.66, and the second also on Dec. 3 at 4:03 a.m. a check for $633.47. On Dec. 5 he attempted to pass a third check for $630.73 but was taken into custody by troopers.

Troopers said when confronted he produced an Ohio license as his identification. Troopers said Gebhardt was using his brother's name on the check and his brother's license as ID.

He was charged with theft by deception, bad checks, forgery, criminal attempt-theft, and false ID to law enforcement.
