The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.
Last week's meeting was attended by 74 members. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session.
Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Friendship."
Vice President Doris Brobst reported that several members were currently hospitalized: Gayle Wall at Hershey Medical Center; Thomas Dally in St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale; and Kathleen Valentine in the Pottsville Hospital. Gladys Weaver was added to the sick list.
The group discussed a bus trip to the Sands Casino, Bethlehem, on March 8. More information is available by calling Jean at (570) 668-4165.
This week's meeting will include a Valentine's Day celebration.
Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The meeting room is handicap accessible.
Class of 1978
The Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1978 will begin planning for its next reunion. An initial planning session will be held Feb. 27, at 5 p.m., at Schick's Cafe, Mauch Chunk Street. All class members are welcome to attend.
Classmate addresses need to be updated.

Holy Name to meet
The Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will meet this Thursday, at 8 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
New members are always welcome.
St. Peter's
The Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Boy Scout Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include special music by the Cherub Choir and a Joyous Noise Offering. A time of fellowship will follow the worship service. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation Class will meet at 1 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, Women's Association of St. Peter's will meet at 7:30 p.m., with Judy Hoppes as guest speaker; Wednesday, Ash Wednesday observance at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Prayer group meets at 5 p.m. and Brownies meet at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Queens of Crop scrapbooking group meets at 8 a.m. and the Youth Group will meet at 2 p.m. to go bowling.
The choirs rehearse on Thursday. Next week's schedule will include: Cherubs at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir at 7 p.m. and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a service will be celebrated at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, beginning at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, the PLWG will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Prayer Time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry at 6:30 p.m., adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., Membership Class will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, CEF Winter Carnival, 2 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church.
