Three members of the Furnace School reunion, a one-room elementary building, visited the Andreas Sporting Club recently to present two plaques honoring the club's founders.

By agreement of the membership of the reunion, a $500 donation was given to the sportsmen for their needs.

One plaque lists the names of the original chartered members of the club. Similar plaques and donations were given to the Andreas Fire Company in 2008.

The reunion was held at the pavilion and social room of the sporting club, with a pig roast with all the trimmings. It was attended by about 120 former students, three former teachers and guests. A disc jockey provided music and entertainment.

Ernest Guldner organized the reunion.

Plans are being made by the five members of the reunion committee to hold the next gathering in 2011, with a chicken barbecue at the club.
