A Monroe County resident suffered smoke inhalation Thursday in an early morning fire. The blaze was first reported at 5:30 a.m. at 16 Maple Road in Briar Crest Woods Development in Tunkhannock Township just off SR903. When firefighters from Monroe and Carbon counties arrived on scene they found flames rolling from the single family dwelling. Members of the Lake Harmony ambulance treated a resident before transporting the resident to an area hospital. Firefighters were hampered by high winds and impassible roads. A state police fire marshal is investigating the incident.
