A New Ringgold man died after a one-vehicle accident Friday evening on West Penn Pike (SR309), at Country Tile, Tamaqua Borough. Edward Stott, 46, was driving a white Chrysler 300M southbound at 7:31 p.m., when for unknown reasons the vehicle swerved to the right, drove through a high pile of snow, and then stopped after crashing into a Shed Kraft display shed located about 30 feet from the road. Rescuers had to shovel snow away from the vehicle to reach the driver. Stott was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, in the Tamaqua Community Ambulance and was later pronounced dead. Tamaqua fire companies and fire police, Penn Mahoning Ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue, and West Penn Township Police also responded to the accident. The road was closed in both directions for a period of time. The cause of the crash, and Stott's death, are still under investigation by the Tamaqua Police Department.
