Pleads guilty
Andrew Allesch, 19, of 125 Hunter St., Tamaqua, changed his plea from not guilty when he was arraigned to guilty on a charge of theft and was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin to serve four days to 12 months in the Schuylkill County Prison. Since he had already served the minimum he was immedately released on parole. He also must pay a $50 fee to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, a $50 monthly supervision fee, plus costs of prosecution. Allesch was charged by Cpl. Henry Woods, Tamaqua police, with theft of a digital scale from the science building at the Tamaqua Area Senior High School last February.
Tara N. Keim, 24, Ashland, pleaded guilty to charges of theft by unlawful taking and was placed on probation for 12 months by Dolbin after spending one day in the county prison. She was also ordered to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and make restitution of $500 to Robert Dolan, who resides in the Marko Town House High Rise Apartment Building in Ashland.
Elijah Michael Behm Jr., 30. Pottsville, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was placed on probation for 12 months by Dolbin after spending two days in the county prison. He was ordered to pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education fund and perform 20 hours of community service.
Michael Scott McHenry, 44. Pottsville, who pleaded guilty last Dec. 3 to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin. He was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months with the first 25 days on house arrest with electronic surveillance and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by 35 days under strict probation and four months under regular probation supervision. McHenry must also pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education account, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly supervision fee, a $100 fine, restitution of $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center and court costs. He must attend and complete an outpatient substance abuse counseling program, perform 20 hours of community service and his driver's license is suspended 12 months. McHenry was cited by Patrolman Kenneth Jacoby in Schuylkill Haven.
Bail revoked-jailed
Larry L. Wagner Jr., 30, of 300 1/2 Arlington St., Tamaqua, who was brought to court on a bench warrant before Judge Dolbin and had the bench warrant dissolved and his bail forfeiture set aside. However, he was remanded to the county prison to await further action by District Attorney James P. Goodman. Wagner was cited by Sgt. John Kaczmarczyk, Mahanoy City police, on Nov. 31, 2008, and charged with simple assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.
Withdraws appeal
Stephen Leininger, 54, Schuylkill Haven, withdrew his appeal from a summary conviction by a district justice of a charge disregarding a traffic control device and failing to activate his turning signals when required. Judge Dolbin accepted the withdrawal and ruled the fine and cost of $75 imposed by the district justice stands. Leininger was cited by Patrolman David T. George last July 25 in Schuylkill Haven.
Divorces granted
Alvin C. Levan Sr., was granted a divorce from Karen M. Levan, both of Schuylkill Haven. They were married July 24, 1993.
Elke B. Fetterolf was granted a divorce from Edward O. Feterolf, both of Ashland. They were married June 28, 1975.
File for divorce
Joseph Renna started a divorce action against Danielle McMurray-Renna, both of 17 Meadow View Ave., Barnesville. They were married July 22, 2007.
Lark E. Anderson, Ringtown, filed suit for divorce from Raymond Anderson, Mahanoy City. They were married Oct. 19, 2001.
Brian Johnson filed suit for divorce from Melissa M. Johnson, both of 26 Maple Lane, New Ringgold. They were married Aug. 7, 1998.
Marriage Licenses
Occassionally a couple comes to the Register of Wills Office to obtain a marriage license and are refused because they are of the same sex. In the past they have been mostly females, however, recenlty a male couple appeared and were refused. They were told Pennsylvania law does not permit issuing licenses to same sex couples.
