The Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 and its Ladies Auxiliarypresented numerous awards to Panther Valley School District recipients recently. Front row are Patriotic Pen Award winners Kayla Reese, third place; Allyson Kusko, second place; and Tayler Nalesnik, first place. Standing are VFW commander Brian Sommers, his wife Cathy Sommers, auxiliary president; Tillie Lakata, co-chair person of the entries; and Andrew Tucker, winner of the Voice of Democracy Award. Tucker's entry was entitled "Does America Still Have Heroes" which won him both first places in VFW Post 8008 and the District level.
