A Schuylkill County driver was seriously injured in a head-on crash that occurred about 12:35 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, along Breisch Road, in Union Township.

State police at Frackville said a 17-year-old male from Ringtown was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty eastbound, while Michael Slotcavage, 45, of Ringtown, was westbound in a 1997 Volkswagen. While rounding a left-hand curve, the teen left his lane of travel and entered the westbound lane and collided into Slotcavage's vehicle.

Slotcavage sustained a severe head injury and was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, troopers said. The teen also sustained a head injury and was transported to a local hospital. A passenger with the teen, Michael Harris, 22, of Canton, Bradford County, was not injured.

Damages were termed severe to both vehicles.

Troopers added that the teen was driving with a suspended license and is facing charges.
