Speed a factor in Monroe accident
Speed was a factor in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 5 along Evergreen Hollow Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.
State police at Fern Ridge said a 16-year-old female from Saylorsburg was driving a 1997 Subaru Impreza westbound when the vehicle went onto the berm while she was negotiating a right-hand curve. The car began to travel up an embankment while she steered to the right. The vehicle then overturned onto the driver's side, rolling completely over twice before coming to final rest upright, with its front end facing north in the center of the road.
The driver and her 17-year-old male passenger from Kunkletown sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.
Troopers cited the driver for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, along SR715 in Chestnuthill Township.
Troopers said Janet A. Amore-Porter, 31, of Stroudsburg, was northbound and traveling around a curve when her 2006 Mazda 6 slid across the northbound shoulder and into a tree with the driver's side.
Amore-Porter was not injured.
