Two traffic stops lead to arrests
Two separate traffic stops by members of the Pocono Mountain Regional police have led to charges pending against the drivers.
On Feb. 11 about 6:16 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Geraci Place in Coolbaugh Township, for illegal tint on the windows. The driver was identified as Patrick Howell, 18, of Tobyhanna. Officers could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A further investigation revealed several baggies of marijuana concealed in the private area of Howell. He was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana.
On Sunday, Feb. 14, about 12:31 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR611 in Coolbaugh Townshiop, near the Mt. Pocono Airport, for various motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as James W. Kalisch, 50, of Union City, N.J. In speaking with Kalisch officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Kalisch submitted to and failed field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.
The DUI charge is pending the test results.
