King and Queen of Hearts crowned
The King of Kings and the Queen Bee.
It may take some time to get used to, but those are the titles Frank Kurtz and Stella Gaspar recently had bestowed upon them.
That's because Kurtz, 87, of Palmerton, and Gaspar, 86, of Berlinsville, were recently crowned King and Queen of Hearts, respectively, at the Village at Palmerton's third annual Valentine's Party recently.
For Kurtz, this marked the second year in a row he captured the honor.
Entertainment was provided by Paul Romero, who performed songs of the 1940s, 50s and 60s.
All of the residents are nominated, and everyone votes prior to the party, said Jennifer Ebert, director of marketing and admissions.
On the day of the celebration, the votes are tallied, and the king and queen are then crowned, Ebert said.
"It is a great community project that helps us show our love for one another in a special ceremony," Ebert said. "We do this because Valentine's Day is not just about flowers and candy; it is about love for one another."
The Village at Palmerton provides individualized personal care services that address the physical, social, and spiritual needs of each resident.
